About Us

We’re a family of three who have always lived a little differently. Long before we became nomadic, we were already building a life that didn’t look like the one around us.

We had a small destination wedding in the Abacos, a quiet chain of out islands in the Bahamas. We’d never stepped foot in the country before we got married. It felt right anyway. That choice set the tone for the years that followed.

We’ve always been drawn to the edges of things. The places people skip. The seasons people avoid. We traveled to Nicaragua during the rainy season and Chiang Mai during the burning season.

Even after becoming parents, we kept choosing the path that made sense to us, not the one that made sense on paper.

Living Differently Before We Ever Left

For a while, we owned a boat and planned to sail around the world. It was a beautiful dream, and we learned a lot from it.

But after a few years, David admitted he loved the destinations more than the sport. That honesty changed everything.

We sold the boat in 2013 and started asking ourselves what we really wanted our lives to look like.

Then came the chickens. In our backyard. In Chicago. We even accidentally had a rooster for a few months and ended up hatching eggs in August 2018.

It was chaotic and funny and very us. Whether we were traveling or staying home, our life never quite matched traditional expectations.

By the time Little Man turned three, he had twice as many passport stamps as he had years on the planet. Three continents before preschool. Not because we were chasing numbers, but because we were following curiosity.

It had always been our dream to travel full-time. For years, it felt out of reach. We kept trying to find the right moment, the right income, the right plan. It took longer than we hoped, but the dream never went away.

How the Dream Became a Plan

The real turning point came when I lost my job. It was one of those moments that feels like a crisis at first until you start looking at it from a different angle.

We were living in Chicago at the time, and while I looked for work, we relied on David’s part-time remote income and the money we made from hosting on Airbnb.

And we realized something important. If we could make it work in Chicago on that income, we could live well almost anywhere.

That single realization cracked something open. It made the life we had been imagining feel possible. Not someday. Not when everything lined up perfectly. Right then.

So we started asking different questions. What if we didn’t rebuild the life we had before? What if we built something new instead?

How We Got Here

Our story didn’t start with a dramatic leap. Sometimes, I say it started with a big, corporate push. But in reality, it started with a lot of small decisions that slowly reshaped everything.

We learned to work from anywhere. We learned to trust our instincts.

We learned that kids thrive when they’re engaged with the world, not just learning about it from a distance. And we learned that the hardest parts of this lifestyle often become the most meaningful.

Our Digital Nomad Life Experience

Since 2019, we’ve been living on the road as a family. What started with a simple road trip across the Eastern United States eventually carried us across Asia, the Americas, and Oceania.

We spent thirteen unexpected months in Malaysia during the pandemic, drove the Pan American Highway from the United States to the southern tip of Argentina and back again, crossed to Antarctica by ship, and slow-traveled through Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, Singapore, and more.

Some stretches were planned. Many were not. We house sat our way across continents, learned to adapt when borders closed, and found a rhythm that works for us no matter where we are.

These years have shaped the way we see the world and the way we raise our son, and they continue to influence everything we write and share.

What Life Looks Like Now

We move slowly. We stay long enough to learn the rhythm of a place. Little Man learns through curiosity and real experiences.

We work from kitchen tables, quiet corners, and the occasional cafe with good light. We build routines that travel with us, even when everything else changes.

Some days feel smooth. Some feel chaotic. Most are a mix of both. But this life gives us a sense of connection we couldn’t find any other way.

What We Believe

Kids learn best when they’re part of the world. Home is something you build through relationships, not geography.

Travel is not an escape. It’s a way of paying attention. Families thrive when they have time together, not just time near each other.

Good systems make freedom possible. There is no one right way to live this life. Only the way that feels true to you.

These beliefs shape everything we write and everything we share.

How We Support Families

Over time, other families started asking how we do this. How we work. How we learn. How we stay steady. How we make decisions. How we build systems that actually support a nomadic life.

That turned into consulting, content strategy, and helping parents design their own version of an offbeat life.

If you’re exploring worldschooling, long-term travel, or a more flexible way of living, we’re here to share what we’ve learned and help you find a path that fits your family.

Our Podcast

We also host a podcast where we talk about the real side of nomadic family life. The good parts, the hard parts, the systems that keep us steady, and the questions we’re still figuring out.
