For years, people have told us to visit Turks and Caicos for the white sand beaches and sparkling turquoise waters. We were skeptical.

We’ve seen a lot of amazing Caribbean beaches on less developed (and less expensive) islands. But we finally made it – and wow, they were not wrong. 

The best beaches in Turks and Caicos with kids rival those that we’ve seen elsewhere in the Caribbean.

These truly are some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The color of the water is just incredible, with spiraled waves of turquoise, sapphire, and more.

Beaches to Visit in Turks and Caicos for Families

Most families who visit Turks and Caicos stay at one of the family resorts on Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales.

Without a doubt, Grace Bay Beach makes the list of best beaches on Turks and Caicos with kids—especially because of the off-shore snorkeling at the coral reef garden. 

Pro Tip: Turks and Caicos National Museum Providenciales is also nearby!

But it’s not the only great beach, and we encourage you to leave Grace Bay and explore the best kid-friendly beaches in other parts of Providenciales. 

We also visited phenomenal, kid-friendly beaches on other Turks and Caicos islands, including on nearby Little Water Cay, and during our visit to the less developed North and Middle Caicos.

Some of these other best beaches Turks and Caicos has with kids are a little off the beaten path and get far less attention than Grace Bay Beach—which means they still feel relatively untouched. 

Without further ado, do not miss these great beaches in Turks and Caicos with kids!  

1. Grace Bay Beach

There’s a reason Grace Bay Beach is considered by many to be one of the world’s best beaches. 

We’ve never seen a beach this long. Three miles of sand so soft and white, with turquoise waters that are nearly blinding.

The beach is lined with hotels but there’s so much beach that it rarely feels crowded. 

It would be hard to miss this beach while in Turks and Caicos with kids since most of the family-friendly hotels are located right on it. Many have great kids clubs.

However, if you happen to be staying in a villa or hotel in a different part of Providenciales, be sure to spend the day here.

There are several public parking lots and access points if you aren’t staying on the beach.  

While on Grace Bay Beach, absolutely, 100% do not miss snorkeling at the Coral Gardens at Bight Beach. It’s very rare to see a growing reef this close to shore. 

The snorkeling here is impressive for even the most experienced underwater explorers. But the reef’s proximity to shore – and throngs of different tropical fish – also make it one of the best places we’ve seen for little ones to snorkel. 

2. Half Moon Bay on Little Water Cay

You’ll need a boat to get to Little Water Cay. Plenty of boat companies on Providenciales offer excursions that will take you here.

Also known as Iguana Island, this is a narrow piece of land just north of Providenciales, with beautiful water on both sides.

Walking between the two bodies of water, you’ll come across dinosaur-like Rock Iguanas – a main attraction – that will delight your children. 

On the north side of the island, limestone shelves create a dramatic view. 

Pro Tip: On the south side near Half Moon Bay, shallow sands stretch far into the bay, creating a delightful playground for little travelers.

Most Providenciales boat tour operators will make this a stop on a half or full-day boat adventure. (And you should absolutely get yourself on a boat while in Turks and Caicos to truly appreciate the beauty of this place.) 

Or with older kids and an adventurous spirit, you can rent kayaks at the Leeward Marina and paddle across to Little Water Cay, seeing mangroves on your way. 

3. Sapodilla Bay Beach

The quieter, Chalk Sound side of Providenciales has one of the best beaches in Turks and Caicos with kids. Sapodilla Bay Beach may be smaller than Grace Bay Beach, but it’s no less beautiful.

Fun Fact: It’s only 15-20 minutes from Grace Bay Beach but many travelers never make their way here.

The whole family will enjoy a beach day here. It’s sheltered from the wind and always has calm waters. 

The shallow slope is great for the little swimmers – and there’s entertainment for adults too. 

Chairs and an umbrella for the day will cost about $30, and a handful of vendors sell food and cocktails. 

On one of our visits, Gio from one of the beach bars had a water trampoline set up and lively music.

He also served a delicious grilled conch lunch – a variation of cooking the island specialty that you don’t see many places. (Picture a foil packet with plantains, conch, tomato, and peppers all steamed together on the grill.) 

Fun Fact: Water Sports are popular here. Jet skis are available for rent.

4. Taylor Bay Beach

If you prefer a smaller, quiet beach with no frills and flat water, try Taylor Bay Beach – only 3 minutes down the road from Sapodilla Bay Beach. The water is so shallow here that you and your kids can walk out for what seems like miles.

Pro Tip: Stop at the nearby Cheshire Hall Plantation ruins before or after the beach for a fun side trip on your beach day.

It’s a great place for toddlers to splash around, or for new swimmers to practice in the ocean. There are no beach bars, chairs, or umbrellas to rent here, so bring your beach gear. It’s a beach for seclusion, not a party.

5. Long Bay Beach

Long Bay Beach offers another long stretch of soft sand on Providenciales. It has a totally different vibe from Grace Bay Beach, though, with very few hotels. 

👉 The Shore Club, a relative newcomer to the Turks and Caicos hotel scene, has a prime spot on one end of the beach.

Grab lunch here and take in the view. Long Bay Beach has constant exposure to trade winds and is shallower than Grace Bay Beach. As a result, you often see small, choppy waves.

These unique conditions attract kite-surfers who will provide tremendous entertainment for your kids. 

North and Middle Caicos Beaches

You could spend your entire Turks and Caicos vacation on Providenciales (as many visitors do) and go home happy. 

But for something different – and especially if you like uncrowded, dramatic beaches – take a day trip to North and Middle Caicos. 

These two islands are largely undeveloped and have amazing, secluded beaches that are great for kids. You’ll likely be one of only a handful of people on these beaches, or maybe even have them all to yourself.

You don’t need to stay the night to enjoy the beaches in North and Middle Caicos, though. If you only have time for a one-day excursion, these are the best beaches to visit.

6. Mudjin Harbour Beach

Getting to Mudjin Harbour Beach on Middle Caicos requires a journey—a ferry ride to North Caicos and a 40-minute drive in a rental car.

Once you arrive, however, you’ll find a place quite unlike any other. Striking seaside cliffs plunge into deep blue waters.

The main beach comes to a point, with waves washing over each side in a kaleidoscope effect. You may see one or two other travelers here. 

But you could just as easily find yourself entirely alone, feeling incredulous that more tourists haven’t found it.

It can be hard to tear yourself away from Mudjin Harbour Beach. That said, the water can get a little rough here. 

Once you’ve explored the caves, you may want to head 15 minutes down the road to Bambara Beach for more kid-friendly swimming conditions.  

7. Bambara Beach

By the time you make your way to Bambara beach on sleepy Middle Caicos, you may think you’ve seen all the best beaches for kids Turks and Caicos has to offer. And then you’ll see this one and realize that there are still more. 

Bambara Beach is a peaceful, sleepy stretch of sand—once again with perfectly calm swimming conditions for kids.  There’s also lots of shade here and some picnic tables.

8. Sandy Point Beach

Want one more beach break before you head back to Providenciales? Sandy Point Beach is only about 10 minutes from the North Caicos ferry port.

Come here if you like sandbars—when you wade out into shallow waters, it feels like you’ve found the edge of paradise. It’s a great spot for families visiting Turks and Caicos with smaller kids.
