You can see the many Native American Totem Poles and learn their stories. There are 29 Totem Poles conveniently lined up along a street.
As I walked from pole to pole, I read the information placards that told me about each one.
The 29 poles in the totem park are each carved by a Tlingit and Haida tribe member and tell their own tale. Some of the poles were moved from The Old Cape Fox Lodge, which is more than a century old.
You may see carvers creating totem poles at the Saxman Carving Shed. Nathan Jackson, the world’s most renowned Tlingit carver (the world’s most famous totem pole carver), does his carvings in Saxman.
He is usually seen at the Saxman Carving Shed during the summer. Overall, I had an incredible experience at Saxman Native Village.
