Yes, you can climb some of the pyramids at Tikal. However, many of them are in disrepair and closed to climbers.
If you plan to do so, make sure to check with a tour guide or other official before attempting any climbs. The history and importance of the site should be respected when you visit.
Can you do Tikal in a day?
Yes, it is possible to do Tikal in a day. We did it ourselves on our visit and were able to see many of the highlights of the site including the Temple IV as well as explore some of the smaller structures within the complex.
While we did get a good sense of what Tikal had to offer, if you dedicate two days you’ll be able to explore more in-depth and take your time while visiting.

No, malaria pills aren’t necessary at Tikal. The risk of malaria is very low in the area. In addition, most hotels and resorts in the region take proactive measures to reduce the risk of mosquito infestations through preventative maintenance.
