This honest review will give you the pros and the cons, so you can decide if this experience is right for you.
What is Le Petit Chef KL?
The Le Petit Chef experience is definitely unique. It’s quite different from a regular restaurant eating experience, and this was the main attraction for us.
Le Petit Chef is a 90-minute 3D projection show where you follow the story of Le Petit Chef as he travels around the world.
Le Petit Chef’s journey is projected onto your table, and you can watch him as he moves around the table. He even has a shadow!

The talented team at Skullmapping proudly introduced Le Petit Chef to the world in May 2015. Malaysia is the first country in Asia to host Le Petit Chef, otherwise known as ‘The World’s Smallest Chef’.
On this culinary journey, you will be led by a thumb-sized chef who happens to hold the title as the smallest chef on Earth while exploring delightful dishes from across Asia!
Through the use of 3D project mapping technology, an animated chef is projected onto diners’ plates and he magically prepares your food right before your eyes!
From a multi-course meal that takes you around the world, to whimsical animations and music that help engage all your senses, it’s unlike anything you may have experienced before.
It was certainly a first-time experience for us!

What to Expect at Le Petit Chef KL
On arrival at Le Petit Chef Kuala Lumpur, we were welcomed to the pre-dinner lounge. A bartender was serving drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Most seemed to be about 50-80 RM each.
There was also a photo area with cute props. Of course, we had to take advantage of a family photo opportunity!
Just before the scheduled mealtime, all diners were shown to their seats. Reservations are required, so we each had a cute, individualized nameplate at our seats.
Pro Tip: Although it’s common to be fashionably late for many things in Malaysia, this is one experience you must be on time for.
The meal begins promptly, and you don’t want to miss anything!

Le Petit Chef KL Introduction
As we were seated, the lights dimmed and Le Petit Chef appeared on the table in a mini chef’s hat and apron. He was ready to embark with us on an incredible journey!
The 3D visuals projected onto the plate allowed Le Petit Chef to cook our delicious dinner from his miniature kitchen, bringing a unique and unforgettable experience to our meal.
Each course from Michelin-star chef, Jeff Ramsay, is a special menu served at the end of an engaging animation. There are six courses in total that bring to life each segment.
Don’t be late though, as each animated section will only last 2.5 minutes and won’t be repeated for a single diner who isn’t punctual! The show goes on no matter what.

Le Petit Chef KL Courses
Each course at Le Petit Chef Kuala Lumpur represents one of the countries or regions that Marco Polo visited on his journey along the Silk Road: France, Arabia, India, the Himalayas, and China.
There’s also a dessert course that incorporates a variety of themes from all five of those areas.
France
The first course is a culinary journey to France, taking diners back in time to the beginning of Marco Polo’s Silk Road adventure.
This delectable dish begins with poached seafood (squid, mussels, and prawns) delicately cooked with saffron foam that adds an alluring aroma and an elegant taste.
The bouillabaisse is carefully prepared using traditional techniques and recipes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Plus it’s served with a dollop of dill sour cream for added flavor.

To add a touch of indulgence to the Expedition course, caviar is artfully placed on top, making it an exquisite start to your gastronomic experience.
For kids, the Little Voyager meal brings together two contrasting flavors – a crispy mozzarella stick and vegetable ratatouille with basil.
Arabia
The second course of the experience is an exotic mezze platter inspired by Arabia, representing the start of Marco’s legendary voyage.
This course presents a tantalizing medley of flavors and textures, with cod fish kofta, beetroot and truffle hummus, tabbouleh, muhammara, and a seaweed pita forming a harmonious ensemble that is sure to leave you satisfied.
The cod fish kofta are small fried balls made from minced and spiced codfish mixed with onions, garlic, and parsley.
These savory morsels are then served with a sweet beetroot dip flavored with truffle oil for an interesting balance of taste.
Tabbouleh is also part of this selection; it is a classic Middle Eastern salad traditionally consisting of bulgur wheat mixed with finely chopped parsley, mint, tomatoes, and onion all seasoned with lemon juice and olive oil.
To add some zest to the dish there’s also muhammara – a spicy dip made from roasted red peppers blended with walnuts and pomegranate molasses – plus a freshly baked seaweed pita to scoop up all the tastiness.

Kids enjoying the Little Voyager meal receive falafel (the traditional Middle Eastern street food), tabbouleh, and delicious roasted chicken sausage with cucumber yogurt.
India
The centerpiece of the third course is the Murgh Cafreal, which is a succulent dish made with chicken that has been marinated in a rich and aromatic blend of spices.
The Expedition menu serves king prawn instead of chicken.
The chicken is served alongside grilled potato, pickled onion, and papadum for added crunch. All these ingredients work together to create a bold and delicious flavor that will tantalize your taste buds.
This course also features classic Indian spices like coriander, cumin, turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and more.
This unique combination of herbs and spices brings out the freshness in the chicken while infusing it with intense flavor.
A little bit of heat provides a spicy kick to the meal that rounds off its complexity perfectly. For those looking for an even spicier experience, they can add chutney or pickle to their dish.

Kids eating the Little Voyager Meal get butter chicken with steamed rice. It’s not too spicy, but still perfect for them to have their own special version of this amazing culinary experience!
Himalayas
The fourth course on this magical culinary sojourn is a refreshingly cool palate cleanser inspired by the Himalayas, along Marco Polo’s Silk Road journey to China – kaffir lime sorbet.
The perfect way to cool down after the heat of the India course and cleanse your palate before the next course. This light and delicious sorbet is made with fresh and fragrant kaffir limes, sugar, and water.
It’s served in charming individual glasses to bring out the fruity aroma of the lime, making it an inviting experience for your taste buds.

As part of their Little Voyager meal for kids, Le Petit Chef Kuala Lumpur also serves a delightfully sweet mango sorbet which is sure to please even picky eaters.
The way it’s served is truly remarkable. After dinner was over, Little Man said that this was his favorite course. And that says a lot because he enjoyed all of it!
China
The fifth course at the Le Petit Chef Kuala Lumpur gastronomic journey is an exquisite dish that will tantalize your taste buds with an exciting combination of flavors and textures.
Marco Polo’s Journey course diners get steamed king grouper that’s cooked to perfection. Its firm yet succulent texture is complimented by a hint of preserved radish and chili.
Those who ordered the Marco Polo’s Expedition course will enjoy 8 Head abalones and braised Black Angus short ribs served with a large radish slice, mushrooms, and siew pak choy.
A generous drizzle of soy sauce and THIRTY8 signature XO sauce gives the dish for both Journey and Expedition courses an additional savory and sweet finish.

Finally, young diners can enjoy their own unique Little Voyager course. It’s a mix of wok-fried prawns with assorted vegetables and fried noodles for a delicious Asian-inspired feast.
Little Man wasn’t a fan of the prawns, more for the texture than the flavor. But he loved the noodles and veggies!
Dessert
The dessert course at the Le Petit Chef Kuala Lumpur dining experience is a sweet and unforgettable journey. Delight in the personal creation of Le Petit Chef, inspired by his travels along the Silk Road.
The pahang chocolate mousse rests atop a vanilla cremeux, and is spiced up with an unexpected combination of chilli, cardamom, and kumquat alongside raspberries.
Completing this decadent delight is a white chocolate biscuit garnished with a small gold leaf, adding even more grandeur to the end of your gastronomic meal.

Those enjoying the Little Voyager meal will also enjoy a chocolate brownie accompanied by a scoop of indulgent vanilla ice cream.
