You arrive at the Poscol station and do ~4.5 miles of walking on the trails. It was fairly short for a hiking trip, but was nice. Tons of different types of plants and wildlife. We didn’t see another person the whole trip.

The Monteverde area was named one of the first “hope spots” by Mission Blue due to its extensive conservation efforts.
The preserve is managed by a non-profit organization called Provita alongside scientists from around the world who help research and document local wildlife behavior as well as monitor climate change effects on the region.
Tourists have also played an important role in helping fund these preservation efforts through donations or guided tours that help support research projects within the area.

You won’t get the ethereal feeling of eternal forests here, due to the lack of primary forest trees. But you’ll see and hear some cool birds!
